The text of Hidden in Plain Sight is based on a poem inspired by the power of the smallest, most subtle mysteries of the natural world. The author comments, “Living near the ocean, my daily walks are enriched by the presence of seagulls, fiddler crabs, and dolphins sharing space at the shore, and I am continually refreshed by this dance with nature. In it, I see the power of the invisible world shimmering very close by.”
Hidden In Plain Sight
Gliding along the arc of the wing of the gull,
Her floating spirit lifted high
Teeming beneath the wet and pebble speckled sand,
Bubbles brimming upward toward the sky.
I look for you, but have I found you?
Are you there, hidden in plain sight?
You are the crest on each tiny white cap,
A thousand foamy sails of blue.
The shimmering minnows encased in a wave,
Playing in each moment anew.
I look for you, but have I found you?
Are you there, hidden in plain sight?
Your scent lingers in the tide, an inky perfume,
All life’s breath heaving on the land.
Countless gems gleam brightly all across the shore.
New day rising shining upon the sand.
I look for you, and have I found you.
You are there, hidden in plain sight!
