Concord Singers

This season features a collaboration with the Concord Singers, Anna Lenti, Artistic Director. This coming spring the choir will premiere a newly commissioned work by composer Michael John Trotta. The work is a celebration of a Sara Teasdale’s poetry.

Anna Lenti is a choral conductor, music educator, and soprano who specializes in early music and the works of JS Bach. Anna is a full-time Upper and Middle School Music Teacher at Kent Place School in Summit, where she directs various vocal ensembles and teaches courses in general music. Anna is also a private voice teacher and coach to students ranging from middle school to adulthood. As Assistant Conductor of the Oratorio Society of New York from 2015-2017, Anna assisted with the choir’s preparation for its multiple annual concerts at Carnegie Hall and St. John the Divine. She is the co-founder of the project-based ensemble, Ampersand, which has performed premieres and collaborative performance experiences throughout the tri-state area and Cleveland.

Praised by the New York Times for her “beguiling soprano”, Anna has recently appeared as a soloist in Vivaldi’s Gloria and Handel’s Dixit Dominus with Fairfield County Chorale and Orchestra, joined New York Polyphony for a concert of Italian music at the Amherst Early Music Festival, performed for an interdisciplinary installation at the Matthew Barney Art Studio, and appeared as a soloist with TENET on their Praetorius Vespers program. Anna performs regularly with Bach Vespers at Holy Trinity, The Choir of Trinity Wall Street, The Choir of St. Luke in the Fields, Clarion Music Ensemble, Sounding Light, Manhattan Chorale, Great Music in a Great Space, and Apollo’s Fire.

Concord Singers

Founded in 1977, Concord Singers is a women’s community chorus under the direction of Anna Lenti and accompanied by Caroline Parody. There is no formal audition process to join. While some prior singing experience is preferred,  enthusiasm and ability to learn wonderful music are the only essential prerequisites. Rehearsals are held Monday evenings from September to May at Calvary Church in Summit.

We perform two main concerts per year: a celebration of spring in May and a holiday event in December. We also sponsor a Women’s Choral Workshop in alternate years.

Our repertoire is varied and includes secular and sacred music. Composers range from the classical works of Beethoven, Mozart and Mendelssohn to the more modern works of Gywneth Walker, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Z. Randall Stroope, Clifton Noble, Jr. and George Gershwin.
