The Frosted Pane

Slow and delicate, this piece uses fine vocal writing to paint a picture of winter beauty.


The final installment of the Missa Brevis for SA voices, this work features opportunities for unison singing and the development of independent part singing. With conservative ranges, inherit in the text are opportunities to focus on pure vowels and opportunities to work on text accentuation. An elegant addition to any concert/festival program.

Song of Myself

Conservative vocal lines combined with a spirited accompaniment captures the energetic spirit of Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass making this work an attractive piece for a wide variety of mixed ensembles.


Michael Trotta's arrangement of the beloved American folk song is built on a rhythmic vocal ostinato which provides the backdrop for the soaring vocal line, casting this familiar tune in an exciting new light. This arrangement is a perfect addition to concert repertoire during concert and festival performances throughout the year. Shenandoah is also available for SATB Voices (CM9552), SSAA Voices (CM9526) and T(T)B Voices (CM9534) and is a part of the MJT Signature Series.


For mixed or treble choirs, this energetic choral work offers an introduction to the traditional Latin text with compound meter and accessible choral parts. This energetic slice of Americana, artfully arranged by Michael Trotta, includes three familiar tunes set atop a piano and violin part that captures the energy, optimism and beauty of the American spirit. It weaves the joyful energy of Cindy with the lyric beauty of The Water is Wide and finishes with the unencumbered fun of Old Dan Tucker. Whatever is True

Conceived as a work for emerging choirs looking for a positive message and opportunities to develop musical skills within appropriate ranges. Whatever is True has close harmonies, optional a cappella sections, rhythmic vigor and offers many options for the growing choral ensemble. This work is a favorite with choirs and audiences a like.

Agnus Dei

Agnus Dei - Following his successful settings of Kyrie and Gloria for treble voices, Dr. Trotta delivers a third movement from the Missa Brevis with Agnus Dei. Each setting has been carefully crafted for emerging treble singers to provide educational opportunities for range extension, musical phrasing and attention to syllabic stress. Agnus Dei, set with piano or harp accompaniment and optional flute obbligato, features a partner song setting with two lyrical melodies in the minor mode. A wonderful choice for concerts, festivals or sacred services.

Omnia Vincit Amor

This energetic original work for tenor-bass choirs is a testament that "Love conquers all, therefore let us surrender to love!" In Latin, with pronunciation guide and translation included, this festival work may be performed a cappella or with the optional piano accompaniment, presenting flexibility and educational opportunity for teaching blend and musicality.

Winter’s Cold

Winter's Cold - The contrast between the cold of winter and the warm rays of light found in nature at this time of year, make this ideal for emerging choirs looking for secular seasonal repertoire. I Heard the Bells
